Consultation Fees
GSC provides administrative support to independent practitioners, including processing of accounts. Private billing fees apply to most consultations. Payment is expected on the day of your appointment. Medicare rebates apply to consultations, and we can process this for you after payment of your account. These fees are indicative only, the exact fee charged and applicable rebates may vary depending on type, length and complexity of your appointment.
Initial Consultation - Standard (Medicare Rebate** $148.85)
$300 (Pension* $250)
Review Consultation - Standard (Medicare Rebate** $74.25)
$170 (Pension* $120)
*Pension rate applies to Blue Pension Card holders only, HCC does not apply. NO DISCOUNT TO FEES ON SATURDAYS OR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS.
**Non-Medicare holders will not receive a rebate from Medicare and will need to pay the full fee. If you do not hold a Medicare card, please contact us for further information on fees. Patients with overseas insurance may be able to claim a rebate from your health fund - you will be issued with receipt to claim directly from your insurer.
GSC accepts payments by Credit / Debit card only. No cash payments accepted. GSC utilises a secure online banking platform to process payments. Bank transfer may be accepted with prior notice.
In some cases, your doctor may elect to bulk bill the fee for your consultation. This may depend on the nature of the consultation and is at the doctor’s discretion. This is not a guarantee that future consultations or procedures will be bulk billed.
Inpatient Procedure Fees
If you have private health insurance and are covered within your policy, you will likely not incur any gap charges for your Gastroenterologist for procedures, with the exception of interventional procedures where a gap may apply. You will be provided with an Estimate of Medical Fees which outlines the expected item numbers and charges, and any gap you might expect to pay.
You may have an excess with your Private Health Fund depending on the details of your policy. This would be payable on admission to the hospital. You may also have a gap fee for your Anaesthetist.
If you do not have private health insurance, fees will apply for procedures performed at private hospitals, though you may elect to use the public system and your specialist will discuss this further with you.
If you are a non-resident or do not hold a Medicare card fee will apply for any procedures performed.
Outpatient Procedure Fees
GSC offers a variety of related procedures, including Capsule Endoscopy, Anorectal Manometry, pH testing, Fibroscan and Intestinal Ultrasound. We endeavour to keep fees to a minimum for patients where possible, and this includes bulk billing many services for Medicare card holders. If there are out of pocket fees for any procedure or related consultation you will be fully informed prior to your procedure.
