About Gastroenterology Specialist Care
Gastroenterology services for patients across suburban Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Independent Gastroenterologists provide comprehensive consultation and inpatient endoscopic procedures, with support from the GSC Administration and Nursing teams. GSC offers Capsule endoscopy and a Fibroscan service through our parntership with LiverHealth.
Direct access endoscopy is available for medically suitable patients. Telehealth consultation provides a convenient option for patients.
The Gastroenterologists cover both general gastroenterology concerns as well as having areas of special interest and sub-speciality qualifications.
Areas of interest and expertise include:
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
Functional gut disorder / Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Coeliac disease
Chronic and fatty liver disease and liver disorders
Iron deficiency
Bowel cancer screening and prevention
For patients requiring endoscopic procedures, no or low gap fees are charged for privately insured patients. All doctors also hold public hospital appointments to provide care to those patients without private health insurance.
The GSC admin team endeavour to offer all patients an appointment for consultation with a Gastroenterologist within a brief timeframe of receiving their referral. Practitioners can offer short wait times for private procedures following consultation. For patient referrals which are triaged as medically suitable for direct access endoscopy, patients can be booked directly for their procedure via a telehealth appointment with their proceduralist in order to provide details of the procedure and consent.
